The GMC C2500 Pickup was a truck that originally came out in the 1950s. The C in its model name indicates it has a two-wheel drivetrain; the 2500 indicates a three-quarter-ton or one-ton size, depending on the generation. Most models you can find these days ran between 1984 and 2000, just after the middle of their third generation, called the "Rounded Line," and all the way to their discontinuation in 2000.

There were several improvements over the years. For example, a four-door crew cab was introduced. Secondly, an all-new chassis was incorporated. Third, a leaf-spring rear suspension was added. Finally, a dual rear-wheel configuration was offered. In 1987, the line got renamed with an R prefix. This temporarily distinguished it from the fourth generation, which was being sold at the same time. The pickup became the GMC Sierra Classic late in its run, until it went out of production.
