The Buick Skyhawk was initially offered for the 1975 model year as rear-wheel drive, two-door hatchback. The second-generation models revealed in 1982 changed over to front-wheel drive, with sedan, hatchback, and wagon body styles available. The Buick Skyhawk drew power from inline-four and V6 engines that teamed to either manual or automatic transmissions. The Buick Skyhawk was discontinued following the 1989 model year.

Final models produced came with such standard features as a power-adjustable driver's seat, power windows, power steering, AM/FM stereo, and air conditioning. Available options included a rear defogger and 14-inch alloy wheels.
